Reduced time spent on assessments, improved workflow efficiency, and enhanced diagnostic accuracy, helping to guide further patient care decisions.

Transforming Cognitive Care Across the Pacific Northwest
Frontier Psychiatry serves patients across four expansive and rural states—Montana, Alaska, Idaho, and Wyoming. The vast distances and logistical challenges associated with providing cognitive assessments to these underserved regions posed significant hurdles. Traditional paper-based testing only added to these workflow difficulties, creating inefficiencies that delayed care delivery and reduced the accuracy of assessments.

To address these barriers, Frontier Psychiatry partnered with BrainCheck, a digital cognitive assessment platform. This collaboration aimed to modernize their approach to cognitive care, making it more accessible, efficient, and scalable. BrainCheck’s seamless integration with Frontier’s EHR system allowed for a streamlined workflow that eliminated reliance on outdated methods.

Revolutionizing Cognitive Care with Remote At-Home Assessments
Patients could now complete BrainCheck Screen™ or Assess™ on their own devices, saving travel time and increasing convenience. For clinician- administered assessments, remote monitoring may be used, ensuring distraction-free and accurate evaluations. Automated text and email notifications further simplified patient engagement, boosting completion rates. The advanced tools offered by BrainCheck provided detailed insights into cognitive health, covering areas like visual processing, reaction time, and executive function.

Reza Hosseini Ghomi, reflected on the impact of BrainCheck:

“We are using BrainCheck to screen patients across Montana, Alaska, Idaho, and Wyoming, and expanding further. It’s easy for us to complete digital assessments, get the data directly into our EHR and patient chart, and generate significant reimbursement revenue.”

Frontier’s motivation for adopting BrainCheck extends beyond logistical improvements. They aim to make cognitive care accessible to patients in remote areas, replace error-prone paper-based testing processes, and create a sustainable model for scaling these services. Additionally, the integration of BrainCheck’s digital tools into their EHR system ensured that assessment results were directly incorporated into patient records, enhancing operational efficiency.

“Compared to the time-consuming and error- prone process of using paper assessments, BrainCheck has made our workflow faster, more accurate, and much more efficient. ” – Reza Hosseini Ghomi, MD, MSE

Driving Change: Advancing Patient Care
The results of this initiative were transformative. Over the rollout period, 318 self-administered Screens were completed, providing quick insights into patients’ cognitive health. Furthermore, 456 remote clinician-administered Assessments generated reimbursement revenue, while 10 detailed care plans were reimbursable. These results demonstrated the financial viability of the program, yielding 80k+, a more than eight times return on their investment in BrainCheck.

In a recent webinar, Dr. Reza Hosseini Ghomi highlighted how BrainCheck’s patient-friendly design has revolutionized the way individuals approach cognitive care. Patients who once faced significant barriers—ranging from travel limitations to discomfort with traditional in-clinic assessments —now report feeling empowered by the flexibility of remote, at-home testing. “Patients really do appreciate having access to whatever intake type of work they have to do before an appointment, regardless if it’s a remote appointment or a brick and mortar if they’re coming in to your office, ” Dr. Reza Hosseini Ghomi shared.

Dr. Reza Hosseini Ghomi emphasized how this approach encourages patients to take an active role in their health. The simplicity of BrainCheck’s digital tools, combined with its seamless integration into Frontier’s workflows, fosters a sense of partnership between patients and clinicians. This collaboration helps patients feel more connected to their care plans and confident in the steps they ’re taking to address cognitive health concerns.

Leveraging Data for Informed Decision-Making
Automated reminders, coupled with the intuitive interface of BrainCheck’s tools, have also improved completion rates. These features ensure that patients can complete assessments in their own time and on their preferred devices, reducing the frustration of scheduling conflicts. The platform’s user-friendly design has been particularly impactful for older populations, many of whom are now able to independently complete assessments with minimal assistance. This newfound accessibility has translated to higher engagement and more reliable data for clinicians.

Dr. Ghomi spoke to BrainCheck’s advanced reporting capabilities have transformed decision- making for Frontier Psychiatry. “The depth and precision of the cognitive data we receive enable us to craft truly individualized care plans, ” he said. These insights allow clinicians to identify subtle cognitive changes that might otherwise go unnoticed, paving the way for earlier interventions.
